- Queers at work
Shea Baasch is a California born, Michigan raised artist recently earning her B.F.A. in Photography and Imaging with a minor in Film Production and Environmental Studies at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Working with analog and digital processes, their photography aims to create a dialogue between herself, the sitter, and the viewers, reflecting a collaborative process that challenges the usage of photography from the hands of the male canon. Not sticking to one genre, from more “traditional” documentary imagery to staging her own narratives, she consistently explores experiences of non-men and those in the queer community, as well as youth culture and memory within larger frameworks of social and environmental health. Using the camera as her tool to share sentiments and stories that can only be visualized and unspoken, her love and care manifests through her attentiveness of that she photographs.
