- Queers at work
Shea Baasch is a California born, Michigan raised artist recently earning her B.F.A. in Photography and Imaging with a minor in Film Production and Environmental Studies at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Working with analog and digital processes, their photography aims to create a dialogue between herself, the sitter and the viewer, reflecting a collaborative process within each image.
Not sticking to one genre spanning from documentary imagery to staging her own narratives, she consistently explores experiences of non-men and those in the queer community, as well as youth culture, family and memory within larger frameworks of social and environmental health. Using the camera as her tool to share sentiments and stories that can only be visualized and unspoken, her love and care manifests through her attentiveness of that they photograph.
With a background in all forms of dance, she also has experience in choreographic projects, dancing in NYU’s Pulse Dance Project as well as photographing for their seasonal showcase promotional shoot.
